Philip T. Simpson is a Partner in the Firm's Litigation & ADR and Real Estate Departments, and is General Counsel to the Firm on matters of professional responsibility and ethics. His practice is focused on commercial litigation, with emphasis on real estate, business relations, fraudulent practices, and unfair competition. Mr. Simpson litigates cases in State and Federal Courts at the trial and appellate level and before the American Arbitration Association and private arbitration panels.


Mr. Simpson regularly advocates for clients in disputes concerning real estate transactions, commercial landlord/tenant matters, and real estate owning partnerships, partnership and closely-held corporate disputes, and commercial disputes where allegations of fraud or other wrongdoing are claimed. He also has considerable experience representing clients in litigation over secured and asset-based loans, and representing clients in coop and condominium disputes. Drawing on his experience in revising New York's guardianship statutes, Mr. Simpson represents family members in proceedings to appoint guardians for adults.

Mr. Simpson serves as a panelist on Surrogate Decision-Making panels under the New York State Commission on Quality of Care for the Mentally Disabled. He served on the New York City Bar Association's committee on Legal Problems of the Mentally Ill, where he chaired the subcommittee that prepared the City Bar's comments on New York’s adult guardianship law. He has taught at Benjamin Cardozo School of Law Intensive Trial Advocacy Program.
