Russell P. McRory is a partner in the Firm and a member of the Corporate, Real Estate, Taxation, and Trust and Estates Departments. Mr. McRory heads Robinson Brog's Automobile Franchise and Dealership Law Practice Group and is a member of its Health Care Practice Group.

Mr. McRory represents a broad range of domestic and foreign businesses and high net worth individuals in general corporate matters; real estate acquisition and financing; zoning, land use, and environmental matters; and tax and estate planning and asset protection. His practice also focuses on advising physicians and medical practice groups in corporate and regulatory matters.

As chair of Robinson Brog’s Automobile Franchise and Dealership Law Practice Group, Mr. McRory represents automobile dealerships in the purchase and sale of automotive franchises, factory-dealer relations and dispute resolution, and regulatory compliance. He advises dealer-principals and their families in corporate matters, generational tax planning and asset protection. Mr. McRory represents a group of over 20 dealers whose franchise agreements were rejected in the Chrysler bankruptcy. In the General Motors bankruptcy he represented one of the 3 dealer-members of the Official Committee of Unsecured Creditors and filed an amicus curiae brief on behalf of a major regional automobile dealers association. Mr. McRory was a panelist in the Greater New York Automobile Dealers Association’s May 7, 2009 seminar “Preparing for Bankruptcy/Tough Times” and is a member of the Bankruptcy Committee of the National Association of Dealer Counsel. In addition, Mr. McRory represented a General Motors dealer that successfully convinced GM post-bankruptcy to reverse its decision to wind-down his dealership. He authors the New York Dealer Law Blog.

Mr. McRory litigates in various state and federal trial and appellate courts and represents clients before the United States Tax Court, the Office of Appeals of the Internal Revenue Service, the Real Estate Financing Section of the New York Attorney General, the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation and various municipal zoning and land use bodies.

Mr. McRory holds a commission as a Lieutenant in the United States Coast Guard Reserve. He was activated in support of Operation Enduring Freedom in 2003. His decorations include the Coast Guard Achievement Medal and the Commandant's Letter of Commendation. In his pro bono practice, Mr. McRory has successfully represented several members of the Armed Forces in enforcing their rights under the Servicemembers' Civil Relief Act, the United Servicemembers' Employment and Reemployment Rights Act, and New York's Military Law.

Mr. McRory graduated from Georgetown University's School of Foreign Service in 1989 concentrating in Soviet and East European area studies. Following graduation, he taught English in a high school in Warsaw, Poland. He received his J.D. from Fordham University School of Law in 1993.

Mr. McRory is admitted to practice before the courts of the State of New York, the United States Tax Court, the United States District Court for the Southern and Eastern Districts, the United States Court of Appeals for the Armed Forces, the United States Courts of Federal Claims, the United States Courts of Appeals for the Second and Federal Circuits, and the Supreme Court of the United States. Mr. McRory is a member of the National Association of Dealer Counsel and an Allied Member of the Greater New York Automobile Dealers Association.
