Avron I. Brog is a member of the Corporate and Tax Departments. His practice specializes in Trust and Estate matters and family business and succession planning. Mr. Brog represents clients in planning an orderly distribution of assets in effective tax saving manners using complex wills, gift planning, trusts including irrevocable trusts, qualified personal residence trusts, grantor retained annuity trusts, grantor retained unitrusts, life insurance trusts, defective trusts, charitable remainder trusts, charitable lead trusts, and family limited partnerships to take advantage of estate minimization techniques using valuation discounts.

He has represented executors and trustees in the administration of trusts and estates, as well as having served in many instances as an executor and trustee for clients. Mr. Brog, with his accounting background, has prepared numerous Federal and State estate tax returns as well as income tax returns for trusts and estates. He has represented a large number of clients on both the Federal and State level in Federal and State estate and gift tax audits. He has supervised the preparation of many accountings by fiduciaries of trusts and estates. As a member of the Commercial Department he has structured and negotiated many acquisitions and sales of businesses in the most effective tax manner. Mr. Brog is an "AV" rated attorney by Martindale-Hubbell, the highest rating available to attorneys.

Mr. Brog graduated from the University of Memphis with a B.S. in accounting in 1954, and received his J.D. from Vanderbilt University in 1957, and LLM in taxation from New York University in 1957.

Mr. Brog, while at Vanderbilt University Law School, taught accounting at Vanderbilt University, and tutored extensively in that field. For the first five years of his professional career he was on the tax staff of a national accounting firm. He has lectured for the Practicing Law Institute on Estate Planning.
